Fire-Breather
(not a circus act)
Fire-breathers of old
Breathing flames into the air
From between the lips a fuel’s mist
Daring a miraculous feat to share
With an audience
Waiting, holding its own breath
As they watch these brave performers
Be willing to risk their very death
To entertain.
But there is a real
Fire-breather
Needing nothing but Himself
His Own power
To drench us within
The shower
Of His love and glory
Fire from on high
A God who reaches
Down
To envelop us
From beyond the skies
To live Within His fiery
Glorious
Life
All of heaven calls his Name
From Generation to
Generation
He is the same
Always wanting to share
His Holy Fire
Reaching down from
Heaven’s spires
To live, burn within us
His Holy children!
So, catch the flame
Pronounce His Name
From between your lips
Allow the fuel,
God’s Spirit
Your allegiance, very breath
to claim.
