Nobodies

Christ,

Hanging on that cross

Did you know my name

Did you see from there

This my sometimes

lonely way?

Born alone

Into a freezing cold

I took my first breath

Orphans too have souls

Tossed about

In waves

Beyond my control

Landed at last

upon a very rocky shoal

bent but not

completely destroyed

created in, by the light

not just for an evil’s toy

I sat alone, waiting

existing within your might

A nobody,

One of the Least

of the least of

The Least

Rejected in a

World’s insanity

Why do we not love

These Our own,

Parts of ourselves

I too belonged here also

Yet as

You hung upon that cross

You turned your face

Upon my future

Offered me your grace

Yay, I’m saved!

Trumpets

Trumpets

Trumpets on a vine
Orange glory within green
Along a wooden fence line
Meant for all to see

Miniatures to be sure
In silence they are strung
Muted, without a cure
Simply for my eye’s joy
Have they all been hung

Imbued with intense color
Meant to capture our attention
Will we stop to hear their message
& its silent reminder not to shun?

Of a day in history’s future
Of a Lord returning in glory
Before He arrives to meet us
A trumpet’s loud call will sound
His story

Of majesty, purity, love
And judgement
All will bow, bend the knee
Every eye at last to see
This, His truest face of grace

I wonder,
Will these smaller trumpets
Be allowed at last to join
Their larger brother’s voice
To herald a new world
As all nature sings to rejoice

Medieval Forest

Medieval Forest

Medieval forest
Formed from trees
Of old
Stories of
Ancient ancestors
Without one
Word told

Silent remnants
Of a quieter world
Watchers of events
Man, animals
Passing through
Still your green
Canopies you unfurl

for us to enjoy
In a faster paced world
We need your reflective
Faces
To remind us of the
graces
Still to be had from
The quiet stillnesses
within
A medieval forest.

Queen Anne’s Lace

Queen Anne’s Lace

Queen Anne’s Lace,
Your demure beauty
always knows its place
along a roadside or in
a green grass-tufted field
if I pinched a slender stalk
would I hear you squeal?

You, very proper and so prim
I think I would never hear
From the pinchings of one stem
A solitary sound to clear
those silent, snowy lips

Regal, austere,
Elegant long limbs
Waving through the breeze
White-crested heads
Do acquiesce to bend
Your rarest esteem

Of this fair day
Sun clears all clouds away
Azure blue above
You below in your
gentle exquisiteness
I will never cease to love!!

Seasons!!

SeasonsArt

Seasons

Seasons come &
The seasons go
Greying hair
My seasons show

Life rushes past
I attempt to hold
Onto this moment
Impossible I know

I too have had
My youthful spring
My leaves were green
A strong, healthy tree

I faced my summer
With dreams & hopes
Set sail upon a salty sea
within my own boat

Faced life’s struggles, joys
And storms
Until I reached that
Shore where autumn’s born

A slowing down of
Energies, duties, hoping
A possible rest
Now for the greater test
I enter winter’s gates

More snow-filled hair
Hilly crags upon the face
Life I know some better
Received a fuller taste

Grace has allowed me
To enter a long life
God’s blessings still come
Even amidst the strife

His beauty always there
Among all joys and cares
His glorious life He offers
Infinity He shares

As my winter ends
Colder winds may be my fate
But I for sure now know
they only blow
To open eternity’s gates

Golden Glow

Golden Glow

Golden Glow
Unseen by man
Filtered through
Divinity’s hand

Surrounds your head
Your heart, your soul
Heaven’s kiss
Christ lived within this glow

Existed below
Took up our pain
Sadness, struggles with
nothing for himself to gain

Infamy, disgrace
surrounded your death
angels wondered if anything
for man was left

To save our spirits
From the ancient blight
Of separation from God
Had we lost all of heaven’s light?

But once again
Heaven’s Golden Glow
Raised your body
To thoroughly show

God’s complete power
To always save
Proving His love
Will always win
Denying satan his
Destructive ways!

Golden Glow #2

Golden Glow
Encircling, wreathing
Your head
Its garlands reaching
Deep within your heart
It vaults to embed

As you walked &
Talked
This holiness with
You went
Surrounding all aspects
Of your fleshly tent

Until the day
We placed you on a
Cross
Satan howled in triumph
Thinking Heaven had
Lost

Not our best day
We followed his
Darkened lead
Marked your back
Your head, hands, feet,
Made your body bleed

Until you drew your
Last breath, last sigh
You would take for
A short while
But only three days,
Did your mother cry

Then the power of
That Holy Golden Glow
Pulled you up out of a
Darkened Tomb
For all of earth, all time
To know, and your
Divine Kingship to show!
