Of Nazareth

crossforpoem

People like to argue over what they perceive to be inaccuracies in the Bible. For example, how no one could seem to  find the location of Nazareth. In recent years, however, because of archeological discoveries, the location of Nazareth has been found. I wrote this poem thinking of this small, ancient village. Hope you enjoy it and have a blessed day. Praise God!!

Of Nazareth

Small, dirty
Slumbering at the foot
Of another, greater
larger, yet you persist
unrivaled in your beauty.

Overlooked, unpursued
By a world entranced
By power, lust, its greed
You slept waiting,
Dozing in your dust.

Until chosen by a power
Not understood by man
Wearing your unseen crown
You nurtured heaven’s
Purpose for all life.

He walked your streets
Breathed in your light-filled air
With every glance, smile
Literally dropped onto, littered your streets
With His glory.

What a King!! To leave
a throne of blazing glory,
enraptured within, carrying,
bringing the breath of heaven
To fill your ancient streets.

But it was just this
the tenderest, gentlest
Grandest deed ever performed,
This to become
Of Nazareth
That touched our human hearts.

A Prayer

Dear God, Creator, of all the Universe and Beyond

I give you all the praise and honor. Thank you for being who you are, for the beauty of your face and the beauty of your great heart. Thank you for the gift of your one and only Son and your Holy Spirit. Praise you God for who you are!

I pray your blessing and protection on all of your churches world-wide, your family, and the people trying to lead them closer to you. I pray we could all be more of what you want us to be so that it is not I that liveth but Christ that liveth in me. I pray especially for the church of my country, America, that we would be less caught up in the culture and more caught up in You, Holy Lord.

I pray for your whole world that every soul on it could come to know you as their Lord and Savior and come to know how much you love them. May we as your church show them your love! I pray this in the name of your most beautiful, gracious Son,

Amen.

Chains

chains1

Sometimes we might not understand the chains of Christ, but that doesn’t mean we can’t trust that He is doing what is best for us. Praise God!!

Chains

In a dark cell
Alone,
Knees bent to the dirt
I speak your name,
Your chains embrace
My body.

Velvet, caressing at the start
Then biting, burning
Stinging
But the joy that comes
With each sting,
The presence of your
Face!

Cold steel against
Soft, warm flesh
Painful yet enveloping
In ecstasy
As they tear, shred into
My heart
Then raise me from the
Dead!!

Death comes as it
Must
You destroy only to
Raise to perfection
In glory,
Newness from the ashes
Of life once gone astray.

Everywhere but in the Right Place

America has become such a blessed place. We have an overabundance of physical wealth, but it is becoming almost more of a curse than a blessing. People rushing everywhere after the things in the malls, the big houses, the big cars not realizing these things will never satisfy the deepest longings of their hearts and spirits. There is a website called Disney World Junkies. These are people addicted, very caught up in going to Disney World. Kept in the right perspective, there is nothing wrong with Disney World, but it is an artificial environment and only fantasy. We look in the wrong place when we look for fulfillment in the temporary things of this world.

We are after all spirits only temporarily going through this physical human experience, and I do mean temporarily. As I have said before, I have already had an aggressive form of cancer two times. The destiny for this physical shell we all travel in for now is death, the grave. It is going to rot and still we refuse to listen to the voice of our Creator, the living God and His son Jesus of Nazareth.

God is constantly trying to call us to Himself. The churches make Him too small, and God is not small. He is so beautiful, stupendous, magnificent, magnanimous, glorious and majestic that our small human words do not even begin to come close to describing Him. Everyone needs to read Lee Strobel’s books The Case for Christ and The Case for A Creator. They are wonderful in describing how man can see God just by looking at the beauty and complexity of the world and universe around him.

I pray you can get to know your Creator better for yourself. He loves you completely, totally and perfectly. We’re never out of His thoughts. I pray He will bless your day and life. Praise God!!

Shame!

abortionantiabortion2

Children in the Old Testament were generally held to be a blessing from God. Childless women groaned over their lack of ability to get pregnant. In our present culture, an unborn child can be seen to be an inconvenience that can be destroyed because someone does not wish to interrupt their lifestyle to raise it.

I saw a huge billboard the other day on the side of the road which stated ‘Abortion is  Healthcare and a Right’. The only thing I can say to that is it is not healthcare. Pregnancy is not a disease to be healed. It is a usually a very normal condition. Today with all the new medical advances we have in this country, there are very few pregnancy problems that doctors cannot overcome for the sake of the health of the mother.

If abortion is a right, what about the right to life of the unborn human inside the uterus. Back in 1951 when I was born if abortion had been as accessible as it is now, more than likely I would have been murdered with the rest of the other slaughtered unborn. I was illegitimate and very unwanted. My biological mother was not married to my biological father. If I had been aborted, I would not be sitting here today typing on this computer, my husband would never have known me and my child would never have been born. Why can we not see that we are killing people not clumps of cells!

As a Christian, I cannot help but believe that our churches and our country will have a price to pay if we do not speak out strongly against the wholesale genocide of the unborn. God does not ignore the weak and oppressed people of this world. Children cannot speak out for themselves so much of the time. As adults we are to be their protectors. Shame on us, especially followers of Jesus of Nazareth, if we do not try to do something to protect the unborn children of this world. Jesus fussed at his apostles for trying to stop the little children from coming to him and said we must come to Him like little children. For such is the kingdom of heaven.

You can always give money to a pro-life organization and can easily donate online. Put pressure on our congressmen and senators. It will be the shame of this country and especially the Christian churches if we do not speak out on behalf of the unborn just as it was the shame of the southern churches for not speaking out against slavery. Shame on Us!

Your Day

Dear Lord Jesus, This is your day. All over the world people will be celebrating that the tomb was empty. It’s your resurrection day! Praise God! Thank you for taking my place on that cross. Thank you for giving up your eternal throne of glory to come down here and save all of us from the most powerful to the least of us. Thank you for wanting all of us.

Bless you Lord for the beauty of your face and the beauty of your great heart. Thank you for your great power and authority. Thank you for wanting to give us a new heaven and new earth. We wait in anticipation for the redemption of our bodies also. Again, Lord Jesus thank you. In your holy name I pray Amen!!christasgod2praisegif2
