Colors of Christmas

Colors of Christmas

Red and Green are
Everywhere seen
For Christmas
Was there a reason for these
Surely there must be
Or so it seems to me

Red in the berries
For the blood that Christ shed
On a cruel cross
As Mary’s body was in pain at your birth
Her heart’s pain at your death most
Assuredly must have been worse

Green for the life that Jesus
Gives freely everywhere
For our souls like plants may rise
Upward to live in His purest of airs

So maybe there was a reason
For the colors of this joyous season
May you come to know the miracle and wonder
As God’s love and mercy ripped asunder
Death’s power over us all forever
Through the birth of Jesus,
His One and Only Most Glorious Son!

Imagine!

artforImagine

Imagine

Throne, glistening,
Unapproachable
Glory, brilliant light,
Beauty, colors of infinity

Sitting in Your place
Love, forgiveness
implanted on your face
desperate need at your feet

screaming out your name
transcendent above
this noise, chaos,
darkness, ignorant rebellion

a universe held within
your hand
no longer wishing to
follow your commands

One spirit asks,
You would leave all
This!
Remember their past

We adore you, Lord
Do not leave
We will do anything
Your sovereign will to please

But, this perpetual glory
Cannot be restrained.
I cannot ignore their grief
Their sorrow or their pain

The multitudes acquiesce
And bow
Ready to submit their wills
Left only to guess

So He lays aside, removes
A crown
Glistening, reflecting each
Star, lights which abound

Only in this eternity of
Ecstasy, bliss,
Adoration, worship.
Giving His Father one last
Kiss

One last touch of a
Father’s hand
As they prepare to face the
Agony of this plan

Silence falls, all heaven
Stops
Wondering, hoping
As He bends to drop
Below.

So, with shepherds, beasts
Within a barn’s dirty stall
A Savior releases glory
taking up the saving,
redeeming His creation
from its fall.

Wondrous December!!

Couldn’t resist a poem for the first day of the month of December, Christ’s birth month. Praise God!!

Wondrous Night

Wondrous night
Holy Night
Twinkle of a star
Led men to the
Wonder of a king’s
Bed and might

Sleeping in a barn
A stall
Filled with animal
Wetness and breath
Holiness to save us all

That star still shining
Calls us home
Dulled now by lights
Man-made and hung
Without thought for the one
who saves us from being alone

In the darkness
Raise your head
Look upward to a star
Which still points
To the One who left
A Throne to lie in that bed

Of straw and poverty
Of pain and a torturous death
He loved until his heart
Broke, stopped
Returning home but not until
He gave His final breath

For us, you and I
Do not forget
Look up still to see
A King enthroned
In glory, above that star
Whose life and death
paid your final dark debt
