All this Stuff – Why?
Why
do we do all this stuff?
Make all this stuff?
Houses, skyscrapers
Cars, planes, trains
Companies, Corporations
On & on our list goes
All done without once asking
If all our multi-tasking
Fits into any of God's plans
We stepped away
From You so madly
To run so many things
So badly
Now corruption seems
Commonplace so sadly
With all these wars,
Of deaths multiple scores
Each & every day
Men, women, children
Why do we not listen
To ancient words
So well-written
Of God's forever vision
For all of our lives
As down here
We spend the shortest of times
It all seems such a puzzle
If to His voice
We would just listen
And the heart's
Best impulses not muzzle
Imagine a world
Full of such wonders
No foot would ever stumble
Into a dark pain ever again
& His loving, wonderful presence
We would forever win!!
The Voice
We scurry
We hurry
Caught up in distractions
We forget the impaction
Of ignoring
Ignoring what you say?
The only face
That dispenses grace
Every heartbeat every day
For the world
That's simply their way
But
For a Christian?
It means we've failed
To stop & listen
To the only One
In the position
To stop the insanity
Darkness surrounds us
To us Christ entrusts
His truths, His light
To dispense
To a world never meant
To be this lost
When we His church
Get so caught up
In the world's culture
We forget to nurture
HIM IN US
Then by our silence
And this our choice
Christ has no voice
& only doom awaits!
Rest
That physical pump
Inside my chest
Someday will stop
As my fragile shell
Receives its eternal rest
In peace I pray
I will be allowed to go
If while on earth
That is what
I tried to sow
Enter God's rest
You children of the King
Rise up in joy
On the back of
His great eagle's wings
Rise in spiritual prosperity
As you prance, dance forever
In God's joyfilled gaiety
Tears
Many tears
Upon the earth do fall
Many voices raise
Laments, they call
God hears each word
Each whispered thought
Within His own heart’s walls
Are they forever caught
Does He do the same
For all our tears
As they release
All our pain, our fears
Does He gather
Each tear as it drops
Into His loving hands
Do they make their final stop?
Does He perhaps return
All tears back to His earth
From whence they came
So they new life may seek to reclaim
To water the plants
For our souls do the same
If so,
it only goes to remarkably show
That even tears can make things grow!!
The Cell
Alone
And in my empty cell
I try to find the words
To tell
Of Your Great Beauty
You come to me
Across a dark, dampened floor
Only the light on Your Face
Helping my soul to soar
Over & above
Whatever life’s tomorrow
May hold for me in store
So,
Whatever prisons you
Must face
Only on our Christ’s
Loving face
Will you be allowed to trace
The strength, courage
You will need
For your songs to sing
Of this Prince of Peace
This Heavenly King
as upward toward
His Heavenly gates
He alone carries each soul
On the Purest of Glory’s wings!
Hard Words
Hard words fill the air
Rotating, flipping everywhere
But
Did you know
In an ancient Holy Book
If you dare to take a look
Are also found hard words
Such as,
In a great Revelation
‘niether cold nor hot’
‘I am about to spit
You out of my mouth’
Hard to hear
But spoken in a prophet’s ear
We must take up that cross,
Whatever form of pain
It takes,
And follow Him
If not,
He says we’re not worthy
Of Him
His salvation no one can win
Without a struggle
Against a lost world’s sin
We are His salt
But if we lose His Spirit’s flavor
No longer us will He exalt
But be dropped
Ground into earth’s dust
No longer us will He adopt
To be His very own
We must follow His commands
Rebuking the sin
Found lingering within
Each man’s hands
Without obedience
Like the rest
We too will be lost
Left among a darkness
So totally distraught
Today God’s people need to
Follow His voice
Make, even if it is,
A difficult choice
Stay true to His words spoken
Don’t throw only a slight token
Of your lukewarm affection
Commit to the Spirit’s fire
As it comes to lift you higher
Than a mere man’s imagination
Within his small soul can begin
to ever, ever comprehend!
Revelation 3:14-16 These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness of, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were either one or the other! So because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
Matthew 10: 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
