Solitude

Solitude

Solitude,
Oh, may I ever
Rue
The day I choose
To leave
You

But don’t worry
In my own time
I will decide
To rejoin
My own kind
In their world
Above

That land of man’s
Lights & sounds
But for now
I’ll be here
With only You
On this quieter ground

Stumps of Glory

Stumps of Glory
On display
All of what you might say
Oh, what stories
& of history
You must have seen

Rising still proud
Among the leafy crowd
You stand out
Your voice still
Clear & loud
Of longevity,
Paternity

Firmly still there
Younger ones
May stare
But will not dare
To root you out
Your core essences
Still deep in a
Blackened soil

So, take pride
In this your life
I may pass & stare
As your beauty
Fills the blue airs
Above my head
To watch you
Once again declare
The eternal, ancient
Triumphs of
All Nature’s Glories!

I got a chance to get on our river's greenway this morning. Hope you enjoy the photos & poem. Have a blessed day & Praise God!

Stuff

Stuff
Plastic, metal, glass
Concrete poured
On a valuable earth
Struggling to survive.

Fast cars, faster planes,
Light-speed computers,
Stuff
Up to our necks.

Or maybe
Up to our hearts,
Lusting, lusting

We’re told we need
NEED
Stuff, stuff, stuff
To survive.

Garbage piles heaped,
All our stuff
Discarded, thrown away,
Destroyed forever
So we can have
More Stuff.

Physical we are for
Now
But more spirit
For the later

Stuff, stuff, stuff
Helps not with
The later of a
Different place

Another world which
does not care endlessly
about all our
Stuff

Chokehold

Chokehold

It has me by the throat
It sneers then gloats
Slithers & slides
Tightening its grip
Around my neck,
My heart,
This Chokehold

Teaching, always reaching
To infect, detect
My weaknesses
It infers, deters
Pulls, cajoles
Will it never let go?

No, it will not.
If I wish this to stop,
I must do it myself
Stop this lusting,
Discontinue the trusting
In the consuming of
Mere things, junk

How many material
Possessions
Does it take to make
One happy?
While others starve
Do I really have to be
At the heart
Of the world’s party?

So I am trying to let go
Guard my only soul
Feed it
As I try to resist
Materialism’s temptation
And shun the world’s
Blasting horns.

Do Not Continue

Do Not Continue

Do not continue to lie
And give only half-truths
To me,
Pastor of today
You are supposed to be
God’s wisdom-filled sage
Do not continue to say
I may live as I please
Lusting after all the things
I only can touch & see

Even with all your degrees,
You should be on your knees
Leading the way
To a better day
Do not let, allow
The evil one to win
Lead us away from all
This world’s increasing sin
Another voice is screaming
More loudly every day
Telling me you’re
Leading the wrong way!

Stand up!
Be God’s man
Lead this country, our land
The way it’s supposed to go
His Son you MUST SHOW
If salvation will come
Before it’s too late
& many will be left knocking,
crying outside forever
The glory of God’s heavenly gates!
