The Big Come Down
A King on a Royal Throne
At the bequest of another
Acquiesced to give up
Its glorious golden glow
Fell to His knees
Father, Your plan I will obey
On a fateful, cold winter’s night
Appeared a most unusual sight
A single star hung in a blackened sky
For wise men to search by
To find this King laying in straw
For man, the most holy, precious gift
0f all
Come to save us from ourselves
But to do so among us had to dwell
Live with us, sleep with us
With us eat
Having a most intense promise
To keep
Knowing it could only be done
In horrific pain
He vowed to do it just the same
So history’s biggest Come Down occurred
A Prince to His Father deferred
Left a throne of infinity’s power
So in a short lifetime he might shower
Man with God’s forgiveness at last
Even for Him,
It was a most formidable task
Suffered through our ignorance, brutality
Forced to His knees
Spiked to a wooden cross
Heaven’s Own Son
From our evil we could not run
But this enormous Come Down
Brings to us the most unique sound
Of powerful angels’ voices raised
To this Christ, God’s Only Son
Their splendid, magnificent, holy praise
