Why?

Why?

Why do we not see
Is it we cannot
Or do not want to be

Faithful, submissive
Obedient
To someone greater
Than the I of me?

Hardening of the heart
To the idea of such a God
To all of life gives
Only a very false start

Saying I don’t
Want to see
Does not change
Our Reality

Open your inner eyes
On just the physical
Do not rely
Do not wear
IGNORANCE
As a disguise

For refusal
A lack of perusal
Into the gracious beauty
Of Our Father/Creator!

Beginnings

Beginnings

Flitting & fluttering
Your ideas You bring
Through my heart
They race,
Quite literally
Out loud they sing

Rushing, gushing
Speaking your name
Always is it the same
Of a true wisdom’s King
Their voices calling,
In praises loudly ring

So, dearest God
Once again
Upon your earth
Will you trod
Returning most assuredly
Your life’s bright purity
To our darkened skies
As we look upward
With our heartfelt sighs

Come Lord Jesus, Come!

Our God’s One
& Only True Son
Name us,
Claim us,
For in this today’s now,
Our eternal journey
Has already begun!!

In Love with Jesus?

In Love?

In love with Jesus
Is that what I’m
Supposed to be?
New idea at times
Something worth the try?
Perhaps of this should I see

Infatuated, Adoring
Up in my heart should
I be storing
For someone such as Him
These feelings will He win
From within me?

The answer to all these questions
Should be
A loud resounding yes
For to love someone else
You must let go of self
Which is assuredly for most
A very difficult test

But that is what we’re
Called to be
I think I’ll try it
More just to see
What results can possibly come
From making an attempt to
Follow God’s Only Living Son

So,
Forward, onward
I will go
At times not at all to know
Exactly how to walk
Or talk like Him
My goodness, patience
At times will wear incredibly thin
But hoping more & more
As on I go His ways to win

So myself I need to remind
More than just one time
With these simple words
‘Not I but Christ that liveth in me’
Hoping, praying someday
A new better version of myself
Will this world finally be able to see!!

The Big Come Down

The Big Come Down

A King on a Royal Throne
At the bequest of another
Acquiesced to give up
Its glorious golden glow
Fell to His knees
Father, Your plan I will obey

On a fateful, cold winter’s night
Appeared a most unusual sight
A single star hung in a blackened sky
For wise men to search by
To find this King laying in straw
For man, the most holy, precious gift
0f all

Come to save us from ourselves
But to do so among us had to dwell
Live with us, sleep with us
With us eat
Having a most intense promise
To keep
Knowing it could only be done
In horrific pain
He vowed to do it just the same

So history’s biggest Come Down occurred
A Prince to His Father deferred
Left a throne of infinity’s power
So in a short lifetime he might shower
Man with God’s forgiveness at last
Even for Him,
It was a most formidable task

Suffered through our ignorance, brutality
Forced to His knees
Spiked to a wooden cross
Heaven’s Own Son
From our evil we could not run

But this enormous Come Down
Brings to us the most unique sound
Of powerful angels’ voices raised
To this Christ, God’s Only Son
Their splendid, magnificent, holy praise

Better Than Disney World?

Better Than DisneyWorld?

Better than Disney World?
Could there be such a thing?
Better than Florida’s palace of pure pleasure
Full of dreams forever we may treasure
With multiple hurrahs let our voices ring

But its gilded halls & walls
Eventually you must leave
& return with only reality left to see
Back to a world of suffering, wars
Even more abuses left in store

But God promises better
Than an insincere, synthetic fantasy
Hard to imagine this I know
But this is what He longs for us to see
Beyond an artificial man-made glow
Lies the real thing

He wants to renew His world
Along with each, man, woman,
Boy & girl
Doesn’t matter if you are old or young
A girl, a daughter, or perhaps
Someone else’s son

No more suffering
No more dying
To dry each tear
Remove the crying
So,
Why not let Him?
Return to me, I will return to you
Why not let Him your own heart
Your very own soul renew?

Removing each trace
Of all the old
So a different world’s story
Can be at last told
While we joyfully lift hands in praise
& look upon eternity’s kindest
Above all others Face!

Malachi 3:6-7 I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. RETURN TO ME, AND I WILL RETURN TO YOU,” says the Lord Almighty.

Pentecostal Fire

Pentecostal Fire

Disciples, huddled
In an upper room
Shaking in their boots
Trying to dispel the gloom
Of your death
Feeling only fear’s failure was left

Until,
A Pentecostal fire
Blazed across their heads
By tongues of living fire
Were they to be led

To stop the shaking, quaking
& rise up
Boldly speak
Those first words of hope
To preach
And loudly proclaim
In many tongues
The life, the power
Of God’s only RISEN SON!
