The Cell

The Cell

Alone
And in my empty cell
I try to find the words
To tell
Of Your Great Beauty

You come to me
Across a dark, dampened floor
Only the light on Your Face
Helping my soul to soar
Over & above
Whatever life’s tomorrow
May hold for me in store

So,
Whatever prisons you
Must face
Only on our Christ’s
Loving face
Will you be allowed to trace
The strength, courage
You will need
For your songs to sing
Of this Prince of Peace
This Heavenly King
as upward toward
His Heavenly gates
He alone carries each soul
On the Purest of Glory’s wings!

Divorce, Divorce

Divorce, Divorce

Divorce, Divorce
Such a slippery slimy course
Icky, sticky
Shouldn’t we feel some remorse?

Signs of the times
Mobs in the culture all cry
But who put them in charge
Seems almost like
A ridiculous farce
Shall we begin to spar?

Who gets the last word
Surely there’s someplace to look
You say there is an older book
Which answers many questions
That within its black and white lines
God’s Holy Spirit beckons

Listen to its words
So once again we may return
Faithfulness, sanctity
Peace, security
True love back to our homes
And no longer out in the darkness
Will our children be forced to roam!

Poem to an Abstract

Poem to an Abstract

Star whirl
Colors twirl
In bright ribbons
Around your head
So I believe
To yourself
You said:
“I should do something
With this

Leaning forward
With a gentle kiss
The Son said:
“I agree although
We have not a
Compelling need
Except to perhaps
See
If this, our love,
More are willing to receive

So you spoke
And You built
Soon those colors
They filled
A universe
Of twirling shapes
Forms
Some soft
some hard, terse

So You
Built an earth
Of greens & blues
Such vibrant hues
Plants, animals
& at last your man
Such glorious life
Only Your peace
No strife

Until
We spoiled it
But
Remember
Your Son You
Did send us
Someday will
It be returned
And once again
We will be
Allowed to learn
Of Your Glorious Perfection!!

Miracle

Miracle

What would cause
A god
Of any kind
Rich, wealthy
Most sublime

To step
From His perfection’s
Heaven
To literally
Slum
With us?

This was no impulse
Done with intent
A driven purpose
Such a love
Beyond robust!
So this is the miracle
For us!

That one so
Wondrous
Of beauty,
Power
Would step
Down
To save us
From a most dreadful
Hour

For without this
Miracle
Only a place most
Terrible
Awaited

So do not
Hesitate
Accept what
Christ
Longs to give
A better
Fate

Life
With His
Beauty
Into
Infinity!

Too Archaic?

Too Archaic?

Evil
An old, archaic word
You say
But just listen
If you will but stay
Is not man also ancient
On the face of
This revolving planet?

Also, since antiquity
Yet basically
Man is as the same
Since all the history of
Our yesterdays
Thru & up to
All the current of
Our present’s todays!

So,
Do not overrule that
Ancient word
Evil
Spun from the workings of
A devil
satan seeks only to destroy
Every man, woman
Girl & even the youngest of
All the boys

Work against it
Within yourself
Try to overcome it
Seek God’s light,
His Spirit’s pure power
To win for each of us
Of life these hours
That can come at us
In such a resounding,
Cascading crush!

At Night!

At Night

At night
I dream of your face
Hardly daring to believe
You would give me
This taste
Of You
Your Beauty
Overwhelming Power
Completed Purity

Such intimacy with one
Such as You
More than I, mere man,
Can ever comprehend
I pray never will it end
Praise You, Lord God,
Praise You

In golden splendor
You arrive
Settling somewhere above,
Between,
All my why’s
To Be
As You Will Be
So,
I tremble on my knees
Gratitude
Contained in tears, it falls

Again,
 I tremble at your call,
But I dare not
Do not wish to resist
For this I live & breathe
Waiting, I cannot fully
Conceive
This future hope
Of your Magnificent Eternity!!
