Softly

Softly

Soft and subtle
Until it isn’t
Then it rears its
Ugly head
To bite you
Swallow you
Whole
Wishing to make you
Only dead

satan’s darkness
Works like that
Starting with only angry
Complaints
Working undercover
Until it completely removes
All restraints
To fully destroy you

So they did with Christ
At first,
Only anger’s hatred
Until the evil within man
Fully exploded
Trying to destroy
Someone most sacred
God Himself!

At His last supper
On this green planet
He urged his true followers
Of many things
To love each other,
Honor His blood and body
With powerful words
With Holy truths
His words did ring

Until at last
Men with clubs
Came to gather Him
To his accusers
In only heartbeats
They would soon be His
Physical abusers
Of all these occurrences
Christ was already knowledgeable
Knowing His Father’s will was
Eternally indomitable
Walked into their death trap
And did it always and only
To save all of us, me
And of course,
You!!

Between

Between

Holy Week
A week like no other
Man will ever see
Heaven’s Holy Light
Chose to walk,
Talk with us
Die for us
Give us
The chance to
Do the choosing
Between

Choosing between what
You say?
Between good and evil
Heaven and hell
Death and life
God's peace or
Man's evil strife
Satan's narcissistic destruction
Or
God's sacrificial love

Behind whose back
You choose to follow
In whose steps
You wish to walk
Remember,
One way rings false,
Only hollow
The other leads
To a bliss filled eternity
Full of nothing but God's peace
To be eternally protected by
HIS LOVE'S DIVINE SECURITY!!

Holy Week #2 – His Triumph!!

His Triumph!

Triumphal entry
Fit for,
Worthy of only a King
Words of
HOSANNA!
Forever thru
All the ages
Will they, must they ring

Palms before your feet
Were laid in praise
From among the crowd,
Children's voices were raised
And if they had not
Well,
Then even the rocks
Could not have been stopped
From singing Your Glory!

So thank You, Lord Jesus
For stepping into
Our violent, cruel history
With each step
Each word
Each drop of blood
You declared your victory
And thankfully, blissfully
The world will never
Be the same again!!!

Easter

White rabbits & chocolate bunnies
All those warm, soft fuzzies
Pastel eggs hidden in green grass
Until a happy child makes
A joyful discovery of them at last
With loud, sudden squeals of delight
What a truly pleasing sight!

All dressed up in clean, bright clothes
All done for this day’s special show
Soft ribbons in the hair
New shoes, polished, & on the feet
& goodies that will not long
Be allowed in a basket to keep

Nothing wrong with these simple delights
God does not mind us
Enjoying all his blessings
But with many of these gifts
May also at times come a terrible testing

This day of Easter is really
About a sacrifice
Not to be forgotten
For all our joys & pleasures
Came at the cost of another’s life!

A bloodied cross, a broken body
An empty tomb
God’s love on display
Brought about all of the
Joys & pleasures of this day

Made us once more
Welcome in Heaven
Brought us back into
God’s loving arms
Safe at last from all of
satan’s cruelest harms

So on that most glorious day
Our eternal souls were saved
As Christ stepped back out
Into a world He owned
Eternity’s power rolled back
That oh so heavy stone
So you too will be saved
to step into His glorious garden
From your own emptied grave!!

Destiny

Destiny

Glory shattered on a tree
But only temporarily
Lifted upward into an azure sky
Why oh why does this always
Give me the urge to endlessly cry?

Because,
It was perfect love on display
Selflessly giving itself away
And for us fallen creatures
His creation’s men
Did it only so a pain-free home
One day we would be allowed to win

Jesus dying in a horrible agony
Lifting His face to His Father’s Heaven
And seeing into this earth’s future
Thought of only you and me
With that last beat of His Loving Heart
Creating for us a higher, purer destiny!

Solace

Solace

A world in chaos
Precious souls torn
To pieces
satin's influence without
Restraint
Where is safety?
Only in One Name

Comfort, comfort
My people
You have said before
Today we could not need
You any more
Come, Lord God,
Come

This Easter weekend
We celebrate your death,
Burial & glorious resurrection
To save me from
My imperfections
And our great fall,
Our horrible defection
Away from Your Grace

So thank you
Lord God
For the precious blood
That was shed
Running brightly red
On that one & only day
That brought to us
Through a cruel cross
Your Solace!
