The Cell

The Cell

Alone
And in my empty cell
I try to find the words
To tell
Of Your Great Beauty

You come to me
Across a dark, dampened floor
Only the light on Your Face
Helping my soul to soar
Over & above
Whatever life’s tomorrow
May hold for me in store

So,
Whatever prisons you
Must face
Only on our Christ’s
Loving face
Will you be allowed to trace
The strength, courage
You will need
For your songs to sing
Of this Prince of Peace
This Heavenly King
as upward toward
His Heavenly gates
He alone carries each soul
On the Purest of Glory’s wings!

Divorce, Divorce

Divorce, Divorce

Divorce, Divorce
Such a slippery slimy course
Icky, sticky
Shouldn’t we feel some remorse?

Signs of the times
Mobs in the culture all cry
But who put them in charge
Seems almost like
A ridiculous farce
Shall we begin to spar?

Who gets the last word
Surely there’s someplace to look
You say there is an older book
Which answers many questions
That within its black and white lines
God’s Holy Spirit beckons

Listen to its words
So once again we may return
Faithfulness, sanctity
Peace, security
True love back to our homes
And no longer out in the darkness
Will our children be forced to roam!

Listen

Listen

Even above the clouds
Mere wisps of white over
The head
Sounds arise,
In low bass tones
In tenor notes so high
Music is constantly
Sung and led
Take the time to
Listen

Notes spiraling
Circling
In, among celestial skies
Let your spirits fly
Let them to their highest
rise
Above this dusty earth

Walk through heaven’s
Gates
Again,
LISTEN
Angelic voices beckon
As their voices
Any earthly heart
May awaken
To join in their praise also

Without restraint
Saints & angels dance
From their first glance
At their Creator’s
Gleaming face
Removing every trace
Of any darkness

Cymbals clash
Out of heavenly instruments
Fairest notes constantly pass
To praise, to worship
On each tongue’s tip
His Name will forever last

So take time to listen
This effort you will not regret
At each note as it glistens
Shining, living
It reaches out to you to get
To encourage you
To also join in,
And God’s heavenly
Rewards you too may praise
And for all infinity win!

Rushes

Life rushes
Sometimes it
Even crushes
Until hearts stop
Breathing ceases
& we see,
Are released
From our dulled shell

To another place
Us You will send
Even as we
Our bodies lend
Back to the dust

We need to prepare
So our spirits
May we share
With Yours
At last
To enjoy
Rejoice

Infinity
Only a beginning
Of pure joy
So I implore
I ask
Do not let this
Forever pass
Your spirit by!

A Savior

A Savior

S
eems more & more every day
Crazy holds ever growing, greater sway
Over many beautiful lands

A
s evil seems to grow
Larger & larger it shows
Its ugly, abnormal face

V
oraciously does it run
From setting sun to sun
It strains to destroy each life

I
ncreasing in its vehemence
I would be much remiss
If I did not mention this

O
nly Christ can save our world
This is not a foolish outburst
Of only random, errant words

R
evealing the truth is His follower’s job
So many may not be left in the dark to sob
As He returns to save as many as He may
Restoring to His purer, much brighter day!

Hard Words

Hard Words

Hard words fill the air
Rotating, flipping everywhere
But
Did you know
In an ancient Holy Book
If you dare to take a look
Are also found hard words

Such as,
In a great Revelation
‘niether cold nor hot’
‘I am about to spit
You out of my mouth’
Hard to hear
But spoken in a prophet’s ear

We must take up that cross,
Whatever form of pain
It takes,
And follow Him
If not,
He says we’re not worthy
Of Him
His salvation no one can win
Without a struggle
Against a lost world’s sin

We are His salt
But if we lose His Spirit’s flavor
No longer us will He exalt
But be dropped
Ground into earth’s dust
No longer us will He adopt
To be His very own

We must follow His commands
Rebuking the sin
Found lingering within
Each man’s hands
Without obedience
Like the rest
We too will be lost
Left among a darkness
So totally distraught

Today God’s people need to
Follow His voice
Make, even if it is,
A difficult choice
Stay true to His words spoken
Don’t throw only a slight token
Of your lukewarm affection

Commit to the Spirit’s fire
As it comes to lift you higher
Than a mere man’s imagination
Within his small soul can begin
to ever, ever comprehend!

Revelation 3:14-16 These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness of, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were either one or the other! So because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Matthew 10: 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
