Consumer-ism

Consumer-ism here
Consumer-ism there
Consumer-ism everywhere
It travels by land,
Travels by sea,
Flies through the air!

Consume it preaches
Consume it teaches
With long taloned
Fingers it reaches
To hold, enfold
Everyone, us all
Until the last remnant
Finally is sold

Taught by all advertisers
Those oh so clever despisers
Of thrift, economy
The idea that you do not
Have to own each
& every thing you see!

And so this culture rolls on
Grinding out the same old song
BUY, SPEND, CONSUME
We continue to follow,
Dance to their mesmerizing
But false, lying tunes,

That large volumes of things
Bring us true joy
Only more and more toys
Will satisfy
But still life hurts, disappoints
And we softly cry
Knowing somewhere inside
Something is wrong

What if,
Instead of all the preaching
Of material wealth
(it is a form of belief)
We as a people began to teach
Not to be good consumers
Of mere physical things
But let our voices ring, sing
good sellers, tellers of
Jesus of Nazareth

The Living Christ
I will say it twice, even thrice
God is the center of your being
Only in HIM is life, true seeing
Of love, joy, deepest peace
It is of HIM we should happily teach
And only, only of HIM consume!!

One Star

One Star

One Star
Glistening amidst
A dark ocean awash
In navy blue
It was a night truly
With pure holiness imbued

Dare I speak of such
A precious light,
This blazing star
Known by and followed
By three wisest men
From afar

To find a ruler foretold
In their sacred writings of old
So, in their wisdom
They left behind everything
For just one glance
Of His Majesty, a newborn King!

To dirty, dusty Bethlehem
They went on that darkest night
And in a manger’s stall
They heard his first cries, bawls
Saw a mother reach to comfort
A tiny infant’s tears
Whose small hand would grow
Be nailed to a cross
To banish all men’s fears
Of sin & death forever

Their privilege was to
Witness a royal birth
Of these two lights,
One above,
The other,
Eternity’s Love
Flung down to save all
On God’s good earth!!

Glory Before Time!

Glory Before Time

Glory
Before what we call
Time
Incomprensible to our
Oh so limited minds
Reigned & still does
In Majesty sublime

Holy, Pure,
Perfect ,
Light,
Power
Without limit
Oh, Holy Lord
May I never forget it

Hallelu Ya!!
To this One
& His Son
Who lives in
Infinity’s light
Come,
Live in my heart
Forever
In your full glory
& might!

Praise You, God!

While You Can!

While You Can

Praise the God of
This earth
The sky & the seas
I lift my hands in praise
As in joy I fall
to my knees!

Thank-full for the breath in my lungs
While I still have it
For even now to your glory
Are there songs yet to be sung

For the beat of my heart,
This you have created,
As I praise your Holy Name
I plead for my country’s sin
To be abated!

I do all of this while I can
For we all know
Death stops for no man
So before I return to that dried dust,
Whilst still residing in this earthly shell
& of Him yet able to tell

I will praise God’s name
& wait most joyfully
As He brings re-creation,
The world’s Salvation,
To those who choose
All their old ways to lose
To live forever with our Christ
In His beautiful & renewed Paradise!!

Happy Easter!!

John 3: 16 – 19 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of the light because their deeds were evil.

Not Little

He makes the
Robin sing
The honey bee buzz
Old men cry
And babies laugh
Forces the sun’s
Blaze with fire
& sends the moon’s
pale glow at night
not one of these things
is ever out of His hand
or His sight!

Knows every black hole
And every giant star
Every planet, every comet
We are able to see
Only from afar
Holds a vast universe
In one hand
But we as tiny,
So limited man
Really see only this dirt,
This earth!

He Forces great nations
To rise
& then to fall
But,
from the
Human heart
Still hears the slightest,
Smallest call
For that is where
It starts!

Within the
Human heart
Life starts &
Ends
Not in the wind
But in His breath
His Spirit
Living within!

Knows your
Every thought
Every care,
Every smile
Every tear
So never, ever
Have a moment’s fear
That your
Living, breathing
Powerful God
is not always near!

He is not small
He is not little
He will always
Rush to hear
About your life
The pain, the strife
You live in
God is going to win
Eternity belongs to Him
And so do you
If you will only choose!!!
