One Small Fish

One Small Fish

Some days
I feel broken
Then I remember
Jesus our God
Broke one small fish
Of food
It was only a
Minute token
Tearing it
Into very, very
Many pieces

His purpose?
So that
He could meet
A greater need
That He
And the Father
Together could feed
Over five thousand
In only one day

So if you
Have to,
Allow yourself
To be broken
Even if many things
You stand to lose
That by Christ Jesus
You also may be used
To feed, to save
Hopefully,
Multitudes of others!!

His Eyes (for a Tuesday morning)

His Eyes

Christ
Coming
Seated on a throne
Crowned in glory
Fresh from
Another's new story
With fire in His eyes
So Holy
Burning intensity
In each glance
Perhaps today
Is your greatest
Chance

Desiring,
Burning the old
To dissolve
Turning to ash
For you
This is His resolve
All must be
Reborn
Renewed

Until you step through
Glorified
Purified
Only then can
You be allowed
To enter between
Heaven's gates
So today
Do not hesitate
Take the offered chance
To receive the fiery dance
Of the eternity living
In His eyes!

Never Meant

Never Meant

Never
A powerful word
Never ever, ever
Even more powerful words
Never meant to be
More powerful words

But
Meant to be
Was I
To infinitely, eternally see
Your beautiful Face
My very soul to taste
Your Perfection
Me,
This miniscule creation
To dance in Your direction

Never meant to
Be without you
Not smart enough
For that
Within Your Spirit
Meant to be
My natural habitat
Where I was
So to speak,
To hang my hat

So please take
All of me, my mess
So I may finally
Progress,
Transform,
Become
What You wonderfully
Meant for me
At last and
Forever to be!

Silence

Silence

Silence
An absence of sound
The rocks have split
Upheavals have shaken
The underfoot ground
The sky has blackened
And at last cleared
The city in a festive mood
It hears people raise a few cheers
But still they do not see,
They have not understood

Followers, disciples
Huddle in a locked, darkened room
Not knowing what comes next
If at tomorrow, will that be too soon?
Or will today be their last breath
They try to comfort one another
Hoping to stave off their own death
As a few women in the corner
Continue to weep

Prayers are raised
But God is silent
He has already said all
He had to say
It happened on the night,
Of His son’s birth
And at last
The last day of His painful,
Tortured life on this green earth

So get used to the days of silence,
They serve a purpose
To you, can actually be of a
Deeper service
Learn how to wait, trust
Even when you don’t hear God’s voice
See His Almighty hand closely at work
For us, this could be life’s hardest choice

The King

The King

Jesus
Our Holy King
You are
The Only One
The only thing
To save us
From ourselves
From our own
Inhumanity
To each other

Our Prince of Peace
Each and every day
You struggle, You reach
To fill our hearts
With Yourself
Your promises
To fulfill, to keep

So let us
Bow low
On knees
Before your throne
May we receive
Come to own
The golden glow,
The whispers of
Not I that live
But only Christ Jesus
As my life to You
May I mindfully choose
Each and every day to give!!

Praise You
Lord Jesus
Praise You!!

The GATE

The Gate

This,
An unusual gate
An unusual shape
Formed
Of two wooden beams
Not entirely an
Unbroken seam
What's known as
A Cross

On it people were hung
By hands or wrists
From its one horizontal rung
Until
No longer down here
Did they exist

Left to die
Against God's pale blue sky
But
For them it was not
The end
For them the journey
Was it just about
To begin

Their souls released
To step through a gate
Into eternal peace
Or into a darker pain
For them,
Their existence would
Never be the same

Christ took that dark
Symbol of man's brutality
And turned it into the new
Reality
Of God's goodness,
Forgiveness
Love
Falling in heavenly showers
Of Jesus Christ's blood

So won't you step through
This heavenly gate
Opened daily,
Always freely to you
But remember,
Only by your own faith
As your Creator's joy-filled
Heart awaits
Do its portals swing wide
To reveal His Glorious Paradise inside!!
