Ripples

Ripples

Ripples, moving
Silently across
Water’s silken surface
Started from one
Center
Caused when an
Unknown dares
To enter
Its undisturbed peace

In water, it
May be
Fishes bobbing for
Food
Small leaves released
Letting go of life
Or a sudden startling
Boom
Of a hard object

Energies of life
Never static
Always changing
Shifting, provoking
Not always bad or
Good
If given a choice
Be careful what you
should
Allow into your
Undisturbed peace

Just A Weed!

Only A Weed

Only a weed
I understand
But still you rise
To take your stand
Against
The Encroachments
of man

We struggle,
We toil
Working every
Square inch of soil
To conquer the earth
Yet we still fail
To stop your birth

Your green head
And limbs
Small at first
But mighty
Sway and bend
Pushing at all angles
On concrete & rock

Tousled and tangled
They rise
Looking for sky
Seeking the air
As all living things
Too come to care
For their new life

Your stance
Crows a victory:
Though I am just a weed
There is a me
In my living green
Rising in this New
Existence you may now
Most gloriously see!

This may be a strange or trivial subject to write a poem about, but I couldn’t resist. Walking on our new greenway, they had done everything to keep out the weeds, but still they popped through. Just another thing that proves man does not completely control the earth as strongly as the power of God’s green nature.

Reflections

Reflections

Ancient trees
Stand
Soaking their toes
At the water’s edge
Below
Or knee-deep
Within its depths
which seep
through bark’s
roughened skin

Mirror images
Of plants and earth
Above
Reflections traced
onto a watery world
fitting as a hand
into a glove

Solid browns and green
earthy fingers
Projecting over head
& into the silken surface below
Which ripples and flows
echoing azure skies
And sunlight’s golden glows

God,
If you were to lean
close down enough
As I hold my camera
Tightly within my grip
In liquid’s reflections
Might I be able to trace
The beauty within
The curve of your lip
Upon your face?

Fragility

Fragility

Frail and pale
I lean ever outwards
Searching
Will this emptiness
Never end?

But I am better
Now
Older, wiser
Very more blessed

Realizing
Sooner rather
Than later
I will be reunited
With the one True Father
In life’s great hereafter!

More Showers of Flowers

Today was fairly overcast but without the sun, it was nice and cool. Couldn’t resist some more flower pictures from the riverwalk. I even managed to get a red cardinal to pose for me. The locust bushes were heavy with white flowers, and there were cascades of honeysuckle flowers everywhere. Their sweet smells were heavy in the morning air. Have a blessed day and Praise God!!!

More Animals

Had one day of good sunshine and went back out on our greenway system. There is a great horned owl nesting on two babies in a treetop. I have never seen a wild one that up close before. I also got to see some large blue herons nesting in their treetop nests. I did not know they nested in trees!

It has rained so much recently that the water in the river was up and running stronger than normal making lots of pretty unusual waterfalls and waves. A mammoth tree got carried down river and stuck in one of the bridges. Don’t know how they’re going to get that out! Flowers and green grass are coming out and looking beautiful. Have a very blessed day and stay safe. Praise God!!!
