Low Country

Low Country

Lowlands

Wet and swampy

Unfit for much

Except life

Suited to live

Among the muck

It does not matter

How rich, how high

You think you live

I tell you no lie

Earth as it is now

Is that low country,

Our lowlands

This level of existence

We now pass thru

This lower level of life

This body even with resistance

Still crumples and dies

A chasm we cannot cross

Except thru death

Separates us temporarily

From the highlands

In a clearer air there

Will we breathe

God’s higher land

calls our name

Do not turn a deaf ear

Until you can no longer hear

Its gracious call

His promises will sound

as always, Faithful

Never run us aground

Reach for the higher path

And walk in that

purer, more noble land

Words

Words

Words, words

That drip from

The tip

Of my pen

Or the corner

Of my lip

Words, words

Spit out into the sky

They whiz, they buzz, they fly

Inherently imbibed

With power

For the hour

Into whence they have

Been sent

Sometimes careless,

Sometimes meant

To build or destroy

So be careful with those words

Those unkind or gracious pearls

Thrown like darts

Out from the heart

Let them pour

Another target to be scored

Do not allow our only world

To be killed

Rather let them always spill

Out joy’s true kindness!

Before Time

Before Time

Or

Space

Deep, impenetrable

Blackness

Infinity of emptiness

Except

At the foot of one throne

was endless festivity

Powerful creatures

Danced in jocularity

Perpetual light,

Emanating from only

One source

God Himself

His Life, His Grace

They danced in

Perfect joy

Father, Son, Spirit

Moved as one

Vapor trails of life

Followed each step

Man was not seen

Uncreated yet

Did He carry us

In His bosom

Unborn but not unloved?

How long did it take

His plan for a new world

To make

Split seconds or

Half of all eternity?

We will never know

This He’s never shown

Time really can stand still

Within Heaven’s gates

Thus He started a new story

It was perfection’s glory

A totally new creature

Never before seen

This, His man

New world, new animals

All formed

To live in peace, harmony

On a glowing orb

Of green and blue

Never will we know

I was not there to watch

His show

As God delicately spun

From nothing

A perfect world

A Day’s Dream

A Day’s Dream

A Holy God

Ancient and of old

Lives in heaven’s glory

In a Holy Book

is told

Seraphim accompanied

Him

His fire filled their forms

Following his commands

With both wings and hands

I once have seen such

Awake at start of day

Waiting to rise

Hovering in a blue sky

Four faces

I have to tell, say

Of great size

An eagle’s eyes

Almost human

Blinked to look

At me

I watched, waited

They stared

Above the powerful

Hook

Of an eagle’s beak

Reaching

From earth to sky

I believe they

Were probably

For my teaching

So do not despair

If you receive

Such a visitation

Be pleased, patient

He wishes to share

Heaven’s closeness,

Love and care

With the least and all

of us

Naturalism

Naturalism

Naturalism they call it

Morality relative only to

what I think

but Wait –

that changes

each time I blink

A world so cold

Post modernism has told

Us, We, Man, no longer

Have a Soul!

All that exists

Is only what you can see

or touch

All to me is only physicality

So should I run the risk

Of losing all meaning

To all life I see which surrounds

Are We truly simply dust

Made up only of elements

Found within the ground?

There is no right or wrong

Found within nihilism’s siren song

Only a birth & a death

For each of us

Then we will no longer swim

In this life’s stream

We simply cease to be.

How depressing!

I am glad I do not believe

What I am told

By your world

I believe a holiness, a soul

Dwells within

As most ancient civilizations

Believed

We are seeds

Of a Holy God much greater!

Angel Dance

Angel Dance

Angel Dance

Angels dance lightly

On gossamer’s chords

Spun from joy’s beauty

As beams of your grace

Are flung brightly

You watch in delight

As your glory, light

Pulsate, glow

Within the energy

Of your eternal might

Longing to embrace

A world laying waste

Homes, families

The world they walk on

Listening to dark demons’ songs

So, as your angels dance

At your feet

I too give a longing glance

To pray for my world

To keep,

Follow the light of God’s face

To return to the warmth

Of His everlasting embrace.
