Stuff
Plastic, metal, glass
Concrete poured
On a valuable earth
Struggling to survive.
Fast cars, faster planes,
Light-speed computers,
Stuff
Up to our necks.
Or maybe
Up to our hearts,
Lusting, lusting
We’re told we need
NEED
Stuff, stuff, stuff
To survive.
Garbage piles heaped,
All our stuff
Discarded, thrown away,
Destroyed forever
So we can have
More Stuff.
Physical we are for
Now
But more spirit
For the later
Stuff, stuff, stuff
Helps not with
The later of a
Different placeAnother world which
does not care endlessly
about all our
Stuff
Chokehold
It has me by the throat
It sneers then gloats
Slithers & slides
Tightening its grip
Around my neck,
My heart,
This Chokehold
Teaching, always reaching
To infect, detect
My weaknesses
It infers, deters
Pulls, cajoles
Will it never let go?
No, it will not.
If I wish this to stop,
I must do it myself
Stop this lusting,
Discontinue the trusting
In the consuming of
Mere things, junk
How many material
Possessions
Does it take to make
One happy?
While others starve
Do I really have to be
At the heart
Of the world’s party?
So I am trying to let go
Guard my only soul
Feed it
As I try to resist
Materialism’s temptation
And shun the world’s
Blasting horns.
Do Not Continue
Do not continue to lie
And give only half-truths
To me,
Pastor of today
You are supposed to be
God’s wisdom-filled sage
Do not continue to say
I may live as I please
Lusting after all the things
I only can touch & see
Even with all your degrees,
You should be on your knees
Leading the way
To a better day
Do not let, allow
The evil one to win
Lead us away from all
This world’s increasing sin
Another voice is screaming
More loudly every day
Telling me you’re
Leading the wrong way!
Stand up!
Be God’s man
Lead this country, our land
The way it’s supposed to go
His Son you MUST SHOW
If salvation will come
Before it’s too late
& many will be left knocking,
crying outside forever
The glory of God’s heavenly gates!
You’ve Been Lied To
By an enemy so dark
Seeking only to destroy
Your heart
Your very self
Powerful above us all
Do not listen to his call
Turn away, turn away
Before it’s too late
From those hot destructive
Gates
From the one who wishes
To destroy you
That satan
Turn from his angry hate
Telling you he does not exist
Oh, how he does wish
You would listen
& be utterly deceived
At that
he will laugh & dance
With glee,
To destroy God’s child
He tries to whisper, tell
Or yell
Live only for today
He’ll come to you to say
Be your own god!
Live only for your own lusts
You must just simply trust
What that evil, dark one says
So to a world
out of control
Lusting after a fool’s gold
I would say
Let Go!
A day is coming when all
Will be judged
Please do not continue or follow
Your dark trudge
Away from the light
A larger house, a fancy car
Will not help you reach
For the stars
For this you were truly destined
Even though you may be tested,
Tempted on this earth
Return to the One whose
Face you bear
Release to Him all your cares
In His light only
Come to share
Walk into His New World’s
Life
Free of all pain, guilt & strife!
I got to do another book review for the new release by author Mike Kastle for his book The Messenger available on Amazon.com. Mike Kastle is just a pen name for a man who has spent a lot of his life working in China as a part of medical teams giving medical care while undercover trying to spread the good news of the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. For security reasons, he does not use his real name.
This is a moving and inspiring testimony to the power of God’s Spirit that can reside in each and every follower of the living Christ. It tells how each Christian can every day truly be a Messenger for God’s Son living in us and His message of forgiveness of man’s sins. With accounts of his experiences in China, Mike Kastle tells how that same power transformed lives even to the point of people willing to risk death and imprisonment just to be a Messenger for Christ and His truth. The author states how the radical passion for Jesus of the early church is needed just as badly today to transform our neighborhoods, our nation and the rest of the world. God’s word and message needed so desperately today will always return to Him having fulfilled the mission it was sent out for.
