Culture, Culture

Culture, Culture

Culture, culture
Ringing in my ear
It’s sometimes on a day
All I can hear
Floating through the air
On radio waves
Forcing into my mind
Everything it intends to say

TV, movies, books even
Magazines
It intrudes its way in
Trying to please
The lower side of me
But by grace, I have been allowed to see
Vanity, vanity, all its vanity

So I shake my head
Loosen its hold
Coiled around my mind
Step out of the endless line
Of those being controlled
Selling out their very souls
To a world in love
With only its Self

Instead loosen that self
To fall in love with
Someone else
A greater God awaits
Holding out hands
To raise you up, to abate
All the noise of a lost,
Sad, desperate world

To rejoin you to himself
He paid in His own Blood!
So do not let the noisy flood
Of a lost culture
Destroy your Joy-filled Hope
Of an eternal paradise insured
Thru faith in our Christ’s cross!!

The Fortress

The Fortress

My fortress is 'YOUR JOY
'
Behind its stone thick walls
I rejoice
Raise hands & feet
To dance
From You, one loving glance
Incites a mad frenzy of worship

At your feet ancient angels
Take delight
In your power, beauty
Glory
The endless, eternal
Story
Unlimited, uncountable
Blessings

Flow forth for every man
From your overfilled hands
For those who choose
& refuse
To follow satan’s dark rebellion
In a story of so many tellings
he lost forever Paradise
Lives now only in cruel anger
& lies!

Book Review – A Displaced Beauty by Amy Walsh

I got to enjoy giving another review for a book. This one was for Amy Walsh’s book, A MISPLACED BEAUTY. It is a great book for anyone who loves period romances. It takes place in Victorian England, and the author manages to leave you with a good feel for what life was like for the upper class young women of that era. Georgina, the main protagonist, is a young woman living in Victorian London and enjoying the debutante season there. Struggling against her own poor choices and the expectations of her family and the society she lives in, she tries to find marital happiness for herself. What made the book more interesting is that the story is based on the actual diary of a young woman found during the restoration of one of the homes from that time period. The book has a strong Christian theme, and I enjoyed the chapters which brought in two famous ministers from that day, Dwight Moody and Charles Spurgeon. Overall, a clean romance and interesting read. The book is available on Amazon.com.

A Puzzle

A Puzzle
(I do not understand)

It is a puzzle
I confess I do not understand
Why such a great &
Beautiful land
Would leave its heritage
Behind

As in Jeremiah
Before God destroyed
His people
‘Has a nation ever changed
Its gods?
(Yet they are not gods at all)
But my people have exchanged
Their Glorious God
For worthless idols’ Jeremiah 2:11
of expensive cars
large houses
endless hours of
pleasure seeking

and worst of all
money
When the decrees of
The Lord
Are sweeter than honey?
By them we will
Be judged
Bear me no grudge
For these my words
But they are true

So I pray for a turning
Away
From all these
Worthless idols
Of only clay
To the One True Lord
In whom is stored
Kept, prepared
For His true believers
Above endlessly blue skies
His unending Paradise!!
