Not a Bad Way to Start the Day

Just wanted to show all the lush greenness along our walking greenway for one last time before it starts to fade. One of our neighbors on the greenway has a beautiful backyard with a pond which has a huge water fountain in the middle. Looking at all that natural beauty so early in the morning is not a bad way to start my day. However, it is getting drier here, and fall is starting so some of the plants are just beginning to wilt and leaves turn brown. I complain about the heat but then miss it when the winter’s cold hits. I hope everyone has a good day and Praise God for His goodness!

Cars Go Creeping

 Cars are Creeping

 Cars are creeping
 & no one is leaping
 On those icy streets
 Parking lots are dotted
As with deicing salt they are besotted
 & stores are hoping
 their customers to keep

In my part of the world
Unused we are to this much ice
So even as much as they try
Still we must moan & cry
 We need more Salt!

So every thing comes to a halt
 As we slip & slide
 Inexperienced with
 this much Snow & Ice
Wave as we go coasting thru
(my car with a mind of its own
 Is now imbued)
 Unable to halt at all
At each or any little red stop sign!

Where I live we are not used to ice and snow hardly at all so almost everything comes to a halt with only a small amount of snow. This time, however, we got a large amount of ice (just glad the electrics did not go out). Hope everyone is having a good day and Praise God for His love, mercy & joy!

Falling Leaves & Fuzzy Grass

Through falling leaves

& fuzzy grass

I hear fall’s whispers

As I pass

On glass waters

I watch you float

In orange, sun-yellows, gold

You gloat

Undisturbed by my remote

Passing by

I hold this day

Within my heart

Knowing from fall’s colors

I shall have to never part

So, if I am allowed to walk

Longer upon this earth

At another day, another time

I shall once again be witness

To that christening divine

Of yet one more glorious fall’s birth!

Small Saturday Adventure

We couldn’t resist it. Yesterday was so beautiful. Where we live in the southern states is normally hot and very humid, but the temps and humidity were both lower yesterday. We decided to take a short drive down the interstate and visit one of the smaller towns in our area. We rambled through a few antique malls. Yes, I did spend a few dollars on an antiquey(is that a word? probably not but oh well) looking tablecloth then my husband and I decided to eat lunch at one of their smaller restaurants.

Boy, was it good! You never know what you’re going to get sometimes in places like that, but they had a wonderful hot bar with barbeque ribs, fried chicken and several sides of really good vegies. But the piece de resistance of the meal was hands down the wonderful peach cobbler off the hot bar. It had so much butter in it that it literally was oozing and floating up to the top of the crust. I am not kidding when I say I have not in a long time put something that good in my mouth.

So, to cut to the chase, we had a really nice Saturday. We had not done that since before the COVID virus shut things down. It was good to get out again and actually eat inside a restaurant. I’m not normally a big fan of small towns, but sometimes I can see the appeal of a slower paced, quieter lifestyle where getting to be closer to your neighbors is easier to do.

I hope you got to enjoy your Saturday and how beautiful our God/Creator’s world can be at times. May He bless you always.

Last Blooms of Summer

I could not resist. Our greenway system goes by a large river. The wildflowers this year have been beautiful. I took a few photos because I’m sure they won’t last much longer. I noticed the first few red berries on one of the bushes which don’t usually come out until this time of year, late summer or early fall.

I love the old sycamore trees with their white bark. You can really see them good in winter when they lose their leaves. Even though the sky was overcast, the river always has good displays of reflections whether it’s plants or the colors of the sky. I hope you have very blessed day!
