To Be Known

To Be Known

It feels like I was
Made by You
To live with You
By You to be known
Through & through
To exist with You

Praise You, Lord God
Praise You
Thank You for
Taking the time
Upon Your earth
To trod

Thank You
For my existence
For the joy of being
Able to listen
As You speak
Or are quiet
Thank You for still
Wanting us
Watching
Even at times
As we are so corrupt

So Thank You
For making us
To live so close
To You
Gathering us in
As our hearts
You try to win
And make us
Your very own!

No Other Place

No Other Place

No other place
Except your shining face
To run to
When the walls
They collapse, they fall
One day you're
Standing tall
The next
Laying face down
In the dust

Amidst the rush
Of a world gone insane
Unceasingly creating
its own pain
For us
Of all this godlessness
There will be no gain

So for you
Before it's too late
Make the Living God
Your strong portal
And be allowed
To start eternity
Through Heaven's
Shining gates!

Informed

Informed

Informed is what
I wish to be
No more mere entertainment
Do I wish to see
I want to be told
The Truth
Does that make of me
For you too uncouth?

If so too bad,
For me
No more half-lies
Are to be had
Tell me fully
About my Christ
I wish to Live Completely
TOTALLY
In the fullness
Of His light

So stop the silliness
Half-lies of so much
Of religious worship
We see today
Let the purity
Clarity
Of God's Word
His Bible
Pour forth
Have full sway

Cleanse our hearts
Even the confused pulpits
From which so many speak
Transform us Lord
Help us Your Words,
Your Face only
& always just to seek!

Autumn’s Flames

I was blessed enough to be able to ride my bike today on our Greenway System along the river and see some of the leaves on the trees starting to change colors. Even though it was a little cloudy they were still beautiful! Wrote a quick poem about it and hope you enjoy.

Autumn Flames

Fiery flames
Never meant to be contained
Mixed among the greens
The cooler colors
Still your sisters, brothers
Meant to complement one another

Your warmer tones
Float over my head
& I do not have to enjoy
Your beauty all alone
Others, they stop
Breezes, they blow
Carrying your leaves
To skip, to hop
Over each & every stone

So take some time
After you’ve finished my
Pale rhyme
Enjoy your day
& take the time to stay
Caught in autumn’s
Fiery flames!

Second Death

Second Death

What is this I hear about
A second death?
I thought death occurred
When I take my last breath
And that is it, the end.
But now God
You say no.

For us You say
You have another goal
After all,
We are eternal living souls
Never ceasing to exist
What a wonderful surprise!
To live with You forever
In Your celestial skies

But wait, You say
I have a free will
For yourself you must choose
Follow my Son's path
His obedience until the last
For once your heart stops
& the divide between
heaven & earth you move across
There awaits a reckoning

So,
As God now stands beckoning
Choose obedience's eternal
Paradise
Because
For your rebellion's disobedience
For your second death,
Nothing but an endless Dark Abyss
Will be left

Huddling?

Huddling

We huddle in buildings
On one particular day
To throw a few coins
up onto a stage
Mumbling,
Sing just one more song
Hoping it won't last
Too long

Is that really
The picture
We want to paint
Of today's struggling
Church
Do we go just in case
We might need God to
Help us out of
A sudden lurch?

What's happened
To the passion,
Devotion
Of a first century
It grew rapidly,
Even exponentially
Ah, to see
That increase today!!

But
It takes courage
Putting God first
Before everyone,
Everything
So
Let our songs ring
Out loud the words sing
Into our daily actions
Out onto
The busy, chaotic streets
As other souls we meet
In our hearts
Do not let Christ's examples
Abate
As more & more
His Holy Spirit
We come to live out
& to joyfully imitate!!
