Easter’s Tree
Easter’s tree
Sat on a hill
Of death & blood
But not even
satan’s evil
Could stop the
scarlet flood
Of God’s forceful love
From showing on
That day
Formed as he was
Like us,
of the clay
Still was He
God’s seed,
His Only Son
On that day
That wooden tree
Was transformed
For all to see
The flowering of
God’s heart
So from the start
For us, that tree
Remains our life’s Victory!!
185,000
Very long ago
On a righteous throne
King Hezekiah
Of Judah reigned
He gave all his praise
To the one true God
And to only His Name
But from the northeast
Like a ravening beast
Came an evil king,
Sennacherib of Assyria
Was his name
For death & destruction
Great was his fame
In faith, King Hezekiah
Prayed to the one true
Lord of all
Received an answer to
His most earnest call
Thru Isaiah the prophet
God said,
“He will not enter this city
Or shoot an arrow here
He will not come before it
With shield. . .”
Later that night
In the darkest of lights
God’s angel
With a powerful roar
Was sent to destroy
185,000,
Warriors all,
Strong & tall
Died that night
By God’s hand
Jerusalem was saved
Not one soul inside her walls
Was sent to an early grave
God will do the same
For you, for us
We just need to have
Faith & learn to trust
His ways
Read, learn to look
Inside that most
Glorious book,
Scriptures to help you
Your enemies defeat
& at your feet
No matter what they are
Doubt, fear, persecution
Pain
He will destroy
Down they will all lay
& in your time, your day
185,000 warriors
For you, God will slay!
Wake Up, Wake Up, Wake Up!
Wake up, wake up
Oh, Land so graced
Our hands should
Be raised
Higher, higher
Each waking day
to praise
God’s name
In the middle of
All struggles & pain
Greatly blessed more
Than the rest
In your past you
Have withstood
Intense trials & tests
Yet today
You are falling
Failing the most
Important struggle
Of all
You no longer listen
To the call
Of your God
Weak leaders talk only
of prosperity & God’s love
yet somehow forget to say
He’s also our judge
as we worship mostly
our increased wealth
satan again is using
his deceitful stealth
to blind our eyes
our hearts, our minds
to believe his greatest lie,
he & sin no longer exist!
So wake up, wake up
Oh, church
Again, I raise a cry
Look toward heaven
Let’s raise our hands
As we all breathe a sigh
For renewal
Plead for revival
Here in this land
Of physical wealth
It will be our only
Hope for our survival!!
Not Little
He makes the
Robin sing
The honey bee buzz
Old men cry
And babies laugh
Forces the sun’s
Blaze with fire
& sends the moon’s
pale glow at night
not one of these things
is ever out of His hand
or His sight!
Knows every black hole
And every giant star
Every planet, every comet
We are able to see
Only from afar
Holds a vast universe
In one hand
But we as tiny,
So limited man
Really see only this dirt,
This earth!
He Forces great nations
To rise
& then to fall
But,
from the
Human heart
Still hears the slightest,
Smallest call
For that is where
It starts!
Within the
Human heart
Life starts &
Ends
Not in the wind
But in His breath
His Spirit
Living within!
Knows your
Every thought
Every care,
Every smile
Every tear
So never, ever
Have a moment’s fear
That your
Living, breathing
Powerful God
is not always near!
He is not small
He is not little
He will always
Rush to hear
About your life
The pain, the strife
You live in
God is going to win
Eternity belongs to Him
And so do you
If you will only choose!!!
On Fire
Burning cross
On a hill
Your voice
Rings out
To tell us still
Of a Savior’s heart
So full of passion
And fire
Never will Christ stop
Or ever tire
Of pouring His love
Upon this earth
To light His
Glorious fire
Within His church
So his family
May lead
Darkened hearts
To see
Their Savior
On a burning cross
Seeking to save
All & every of
The eternally lost.
Chokehold
It has me by the throat
It sneers then gloats
Slithers & slides
Tightening its grip
Around my neck,
My heart,
This Chokehold
Teaching, always reaching
To infect, detect
My weaknesses
It infers, deters
Pulls, cajoles
Will it never let go?
No, it will not.
If I wish this to stop,
I must do it myself
Stop this lusting,
Discontinue the trusting
In the consuming of
Mere things, junk
How many material
Possessions
Does it take to make
One happy?
While others starve
Do I really have to be
At the heart
Of the world’s party?
So I am trying to let go
Guard my only soul
Feed it
As I try to resist
Materialism’s temptation
And shun the world’s
Blasting horns.
