Exposure
So I will lay myself
Bare
I do not care
If they stare
If a glimpse into
My soul
Will bring them
Into your fold
then God, Let it be
If looking into
My heart
Will get them to
Start
Seeing you better
If it be ever so clever
Of
You to begin
then may You win
them on their journey
closer to your Son
bright, blazing glory
of your face
joy unbounded
found only
in the grounding
of each soul
in your great power
and self!
The Flying V
It flies, zooms
Moving so fast
At first I cannot see
What this flying
Abstraction, monstrosity
Must be
It is a flying V!
It moves, zips
With so much speed
I cannot see
Its shape
So I reach an arm
Upward
To reach for its tip
At firsts it eludes
But I continue to
Pursue
Until I reach
Triumphant
Into the air
Then turn to stare
At what lies
Trembling
Within my hands
It is the letter
V
Well, this was not
Within my day’s plan!
Never would I have guessed
If I had been put to the test
That such a symbol
Would belong
To such as I
What could this mean
Then I too began to tremble
Until a hand
Reached from behind
It is for you a sign
A man smiled
As he spoke
Do you not see
What this flying V
Stands for?
I shook my head
No.
As He spoke His
Words were slow
Listen carefully
He said
And I will show
Its meaning
He removed His robe
His body was scarred
His perfect flesh
Had been deeply marred
Yes, my flesh was
Defaced
I died in disgrace
For you
Yet within my nail-scarred
Hands
I hold the Promised Land
Waiting for you
It takes a deep belief
Faith in me
This is for your
Most sincere relief
From your own
Sin
No more will it win
Control
I destroyed that
Darkness
The hold
It had on you
This V is a sign
Of my complete
Victory
Over all that enslaved
Each child of mine
I saved the day
No more will hell
Or death have its way
With you
As I watched
His arms He raised
In that perfect stance
Of old
It took only one glance
For me to know
Over His head
His arms they formed that
Perfect V
On display
For everyone forever
& always to see!!
And I could see
Of that which
He spoke
He had removed
Destroyed
That darkest of yokes
My sin
First True Renaissance
(Re-creation)
After a dark period
It is told in books
There was a Renaissance,
Reformation,
a Recreation,
Of culture, societies
Even of Religion
But I will argue
It had already occurred
At an earlier date
before those books’ words
Told of it. On a cross
in a small back country,
Judea
An explosion
Unseen but felt
After one
insignificant carpenter
Was crucified
Because he testified
To a new way of life
Born in blood,
sweat & tears
Why? satan has no peer
For evil destruction
His desperation
Was showing
A new world,
Kingdom,
New way of living
Was ushered in
For all who would choose
Their life to lose
Inside of His
Built upon a
Foundation of the old
Refined, purified
Like the rarest of golds
For the sake of man
He took our hand
And led us to
His cross
Meant for all
Not just a few
A new earth order
If you choose
Of faith, belief
So on that Day
And in that way
His new earth kingdom
Started.
Change has
Happened
Time for it
To spread
To all places
For the good
Of all faces
Death defeated
satan exposed
for the liar he is
time for the world
to know
it can change,
grow,
because
Christ says so!
Do not have to wait
For a distant heaven
New kingdom life
Is now for the taking
Now is the time
for the slaking
Of our undiminished
Need for God
For every man,
Woman, child
To take us out of our wild
Unruly state he found in us
Return to us His paradise for all
Please I beg of you,
do not refuse
His holy, righteous call!
Buildings
Buildings
Scraping the sky
Tall
Virtually canyon
Walls
Of concrete, steel
Glass, stone
I look up to feel
Microscopic beside
Them
Cold, impersonal
Hard
Where is the soul
Not within a shard
Of them
We have lost our
Way
Giving sway
To concrete
Looking into the sky
I cannot help but
Realize
This world, culture
Has denied
The one who made
Us
Loves us, cares for
Us
A holy, magnificent
God
So we would not
be lost
Daily, over our heads
He pleads, begs
Pursues
Me, I, you & you
& you
But our hearts
Lay hardened
Rebuffing,
Rejecting
The One who
Loves the most
Father, Son &
Holy Ghost
Our souls lay hard, buried
Within, beneath the concrete
Me on A Cross?
I see a lifeless form
On a wooden beam
It groans
Mouthing a bloody foam
Another useless dream
Or message to be seen?
Maybe both
Dream and message
It raises its head
Showing sweat &
Tears it has shed
Staring into the sky
It carries the face of I!
It is me,
Me on that cross
I am where we all
Surely would be
If not for the other face
That took my place,
Jesus of Nazareth!
Sinner, rebel,
Against a one true
God & Father
I deserved that cross
Perhaps in celestial eyes
Only another piece
of human dross.
In pain,
As I cursed His name
Jesus, son of God
Tore my flesh from
The nails
Put himself there
To complete Heaven’s
Most loving job
Christ took my place
That place which belongs
To each & all
Wicked rebellors
Against our Father
Now we sing a new song
Of Christ’s love
God’s forgiveness,
Freedom,
From a worn-out
Worldly kingdom
Captives to sin
Set free by his death
Breathed upon by a fresh breath
Of life’s new resurrection!
